Default Tires?

I have a reg cab hemi with the stock chrome-clad 17s. Soon i will be putting 4.10 gears on it. I will also need some new tires. What tires do you recomend? I heard BFGs are good.

What size rim are you going to? Also what type of driving or off roading will you do, snow at all? Things like that. I personally like BFG's, but if I were doing a lot of off roading (which I won't) I really like the baja claws. Super expensive but you pay for the best right? I went with a 17 inch rim because the choices in tires are a lot, at least when dealing with Les Shwabb, which I do more than not. I have MT tires for the times I do go off the path and for the snow when I am at the mountain. I think a lot of it has to do with your personal choice and what your going to be doing. Most of the tires out there are pretty decent, when you get into major off road or racing is when it matters the most. At least thats the way I see it.

Back when I had my dodge ram. I put on Pirelli Scorpions. They were good tires. Hooked up well and quiet on the road. I was going to go with the BFG's but the pirelli were $40 cheaper, and heard they were just as good.

I pesonally do not like the stock rims on Rams. And I think 20's are over played, I like to have more rubber than rim But I do think they look nice, I'm just not willing to pay the price because everyone out there has made them the popular item.

Oh well I guess I stand corrected. I paid $235 per for the rims alone, tires were $175. If you can find 20's for that price and you trust the e-bay guy selling them go for it. That's a helluva deal.

I just put on 285/70/R17 BFGoodrich Mud Terrain T/A's. No rubbing, didnt crank on the torsion bars. They say (whoever they may be) that you can put 315/70R17's on without any probs. Here is a pic from one of the forum members that has the 315's. I cant remember his name. I have seen on in Truckin magazine the 315's for $200 with free shipping. I paid the same for the 285's and $10 apiece at Walmart to have them mounted with lifetime bal/rotate.

I got a friend who just put some 34' buckshot maxis on his factory 17' rims, but he had to ajust his torsion some. They look good though.
