Default To scoop, or not to scoop?

I would love to hear some feedback on hood scoops. I recently put a pair of Lund hood scoops on my 04 hemi and it looked OK. The only problem is that the very tips of the scoops cant fit flush with the hood. Should I try and get my money back and save for an actual Ramair hood or find a solution to my problem.

I do not have a air scoop so I can't tell you the pros and cons. There is another poster here who has a bad a$$ truck with a nice new hood on it, might want to read his post. But my opinion on them is I think they look sweet! But if there is anything about it you should take it back and get only the best. If you don't everytime you see one on another truck you'll be kicking yourself. You should post a picture or two and let us take a look-see.

Well here's my $.02, If it ain't functional its a waste. You might as well put on fuzzy dice, haahah. I have seen around the actual SRT-10 hood from http://www.discountmopar.com/dodge/i...=384&catid=223 for $561 from the list price of $660. Granted it comes primered, but if there is a high scool or vo-tech nearby, you can have them doit and all you have to pay for is cost of materials. You probably paid over $100 for stickon hood scoops. Just a thought.

I would be offended at your fuzzy dice comment... however you do have a point. I have my fuzzy dice to be hookie, but I take them off if I want to be serious at the moment.

I do agree with you on the functional hood scoop. Until someone comes out with a functional scoop to work with the intake, I'll save my money and spend it on other mods 1st.

If your going to do it for appearance only, for the money I'd look for a fiberglass hood and at least get a weight reduction.

How much weight will you save on a fiber glass hood vs. one made from sheet metal?

Don't get me wrong, I love the appearance of the hood scoop, but for the cost of it, I need it to be
1. functional
2. look good
3. light weight

in that order of importance

I would recomend the hood from keystone, they make very nice aftermarket hoods with fully functional air scoops and sell the air intakes too!

A fiberglass hood should be about half the weight of a steel hood.
