3 Questions about my ram...
Hi fellas.
I am new to this forum and as a owner of a dodge. I have 3 questions that i am hoping yall could help me out with.
1. What performance mods are available for the 2004 5.7L quad cab? mods that will not effect the warranty in any way?
2. I have noticed that on rams the paint is not as glossy and thick as it is on other vehicles. The paint seems thin and fragile. Is there anything that can be done to the paint to protect against water spots, sun damage, swril marks, etc.
3. I have also noticed that while driving on the freeway with all windows rolled up there is a sound leak on the driver side window and passenger side window. Does anyone else have this problem? It sounds as if the windows are cracked slightly but they are not? Strange.
If anyone could help me out with these questions I would really appreciate it. Just trying to get my beast up to standards with the rest of yalls. Thanks. Peace.

RE: 3 Questions about my ram...
I have had many brands of trucks and the paint on the Dodge has looked the best. So I dont know what to tell you on that one. As far as the mods, you can do a custom exhaust, but make sure you do not get rid of the Y pipe, and only do a single inlet muffler, dual outlet is ok, but you need the back pressure from the y-pipe and the single inlet muffler. Also, you can do an air intake and a performance chip. I have not seen any good chips for the 04 yet but when I find one I will let everyone know. The AEM brute force cold air intake looks to be one of the best on the market right now with K&N following close behind. With either one you should see the same performance gains, and I think the K&N is cheaper. As far as the wistling goes, take it to the dealer and they can find the leak and fix it, I had that problem on my '01 and they replace the adjusted the weather stripping. Hope this helps.

thanks man i appreciate it greatly...but maybe its just my dodge that has the paint problems cuz it feels really thin and poorly protected..i used to have a 02 eclipse and the paint felt thick and glossy as well as my 99 jetta vr6 so i dont know...i have already done the exhaust and it is what you suggested so i guess the next thing would be the chip and intake..although i bought a generic cold air initake off ebay it consists of a large cone k&n filter and the piping is black 4" 3 pieced glued together?? its just a substitute for the more expensive ones to come..and thanks again for the help

RE: 3 Questions about my ram...
oh yeah...are those the only performance mods that are available on the 2004 HEMI? just intake, exhaust, and a performance chip?...there is nothing else that can help out performance in any way? im used to imports because thats what i used to drive before i realized that domestics are much much more powerful...and on imports there was a hella of alot more to do engine-wise besides bolt ons...

RE: 3 Questions about my ram...
Well if you've got $3,900 and you're serious you should get the Kenne Bell Supercharger Kit, made especially for the HEMI engine. 520 horsepower and 565 pound/feet of torque. I read somewhere that they will fix it if it breaks. It will not void the warranty unless they can prove it was the Supercharger that caused the problem, but you can also get aftermarket warranties. Dodge is also going to offer a Supercharger that will not void the warranty but it will only bring your power to 410 horsepower. Which is still pretty good.

RE: 3 Questions about my ram...
A Kenne Bell WILL void your warranty-I would kick the whole powertrain, some dealers may say OK to the rear-end but the engine and trans are no brainers, you put on a blower or NOS and the engine/trans warranties are GONE. And that is for anything including leaks, I've done it many times before and will do it again. I suggest sticking to the simple bolt-ons and leave the power levels below 400. BTW-don't have prove the supercharger broke it-if its on there it broke it.

yeah i will not put a supercharger on the engine until it reaches its warranty limit even then i probably will not...but headers will not make a difference in the 5.7L will they?...and can someone point me in the right direction for a good performance chip? thanks

RE: 3 Questions about my ram...
i'm not for sure which gears you have, i'm assuming you have the 3.92's, if you have the 3.55's like myself then the 3.92's would help tremendously!! and from what i've understood with our '04's you will not get any horsepower gains b/c of the torque management (many posts on it here under search function) so you're really really limited till a good computer comes out!!!

RE: 3 Questions about my ram...
Those cheap CAI are POS's....
I put one on my rambus..... i check it constantly to make sure it's still on there good...
Today i checked on it and it was falling completely off!!!
right between the plastic TB hat and the CAI polished tube... like 6 inch gap...
sucking some nice clean air there, eh?
im gonna fab up some custom intake parts, also extend the filter away from the engine.
your better off making one yourself or buying one that is at least over $100
