Default Breaking in hemi properly

Hey, I am 20 years old, and just purchased a new hemi. I have had it at WOT a few times, and my dad said that I shouldnt do that yet as it will be bad for breaking in the engine. How should I treat it from now on? Is it already screwed because I have hammered it a little bit, and might as well just keep going? OR should I start being gentle on it? For how long? What max RPM should I run it up to?

I appreciate any replies that I Get.
Thanks
Adam

I'd be following the owner's manual very closely...[&:]

Thats the thing... I didnt see anything in the owners manual as to how to break in the engine properly.. I will give it another read tonight to see what I might find. What does breaking it in properly do anyways? I have always been a "muscle car" in the summer, beater in the winter type of guy. And am new to the newer... let alone NEW car market.

Not like wrenching on the old ones with these....
Thanks for your post though dusty loins. Anyone else with a hemi got any tips? (not to discourage the SRT-4 guy from helping me out at all... no offense intended)

Don't even worry about it. the engine is already run in from the factory and ready to roll. I don't recall seeing a break-in procedure in the manual. If it was an HiPo engine like the SRT-4 that had a turbo, that's a different story.

Bottom line, go for it.[sm=smiley20.gif]

Congrats on the new Hemi, and welcome to the forums. Im with mopartodd, its not like a motor youve just rebuilt, or bought new, the motors been pre broke in for you. At least thats who i understand it, if it was brand new, then theyd have us all replacing our oil at the 500k mark for the first one. mine had 8-900k on it when i bought it, dealer swap, so they drove it down. The sales manager was the driver, so i didnt worry to much. Other then that, ive got almost 3000k on it now, and im just not racing it when its cold, but i enjoy sticking my foot thru to the oil pan once and agian Im just not to ready to replace my 20" tires yet, hope to get one winter out of them.

Hey Hemi X, is that you truck in the pic? Is it lowerd, by how much from whom? Also is it 4x4?

Later guys/gals

I got 1500k on there now. I mean, I dont race EVERYWHERE I go. But I mean sometimes when I am merging or something, I will stomp on it. I raced a mustang once, but it was only a short stretch and it was from about 50km we started so it wasnt a dead stop.

I am working on pics... lost the damn digital camera!

Thanks for all your help and I look forward to talking to you all.

I was told long ago.. Drive it like you normally would.... It's worked for me on every new car / motorcycle I've owned with -0- problems.
