I just bought a dakota sport 3.9L V6 with a motorsports package on it. I want to trade it in, its worth 10,300 and get a used 2002 dodge ram 1500 with 21,000 miles and its selling for 24,000or the older model 2001 ram 1500 sport with 31,000 miles for 19,000. I have pics below. Which one would you choose. I am transfering the payments from my dodge that I owe 12,000 on do you think the payments will be much larger? I just need a big truck that has *****!!!
What do you think I should do?

the 2002 for sure, you will be unhappy shortly with an older truck when you see all of the new ones driving around

 

I kinda like the old body style better. But I dk If I can afford it or not. I have the dakota sport now but its a V6 wiht some ***** not much, but with the gas prices now I dk if I shoudl get the V8

I got my 04 hemi ram from fairbanks dodge in florida. its worth $32,000 sticker price with all the options. 3.90 rear, 20" rims and goodyear tires, 6 cd changer, infinity stereo, sport package, tow package, tow mirrors, adjustable pedals, power everything, all the options. 0miles and for $23,000 thats less than the used one you want to get. i also have pictures just can't post them because they are to big, any ideas? email? p.s. its an slt regular cab.

 

i like the older style better, plus you'll owe less with only 10,000 more miles. plus i like the sport lift on the older

 

24,000 for a 02 is WAY WAY WAY too much. There are 03 Hemis around here will less than 12,000 miles going for 22,995.

Do yourself a favor, check www.edmunds.com and appraise that 2002 Ram

 

If you're concerned about gas mileage. The 3.9L that you have likes to drink it too, it's basically a 360 minus two cylinders. If you're going to buy one of the two, get the 02. $24K sounds steep, when I bought my 03 w/HEMI 6 months ago that is what they wanted for it (used) when I traded in the 99. Like Matrix said. The plan I had with the 99 was to keep it through college, then I was t-boned by a mack dump truck, and I'm VERY picky about what I drive, but decided to keep it. But just didn't like all the newer trucks out there, and me driving the "old" one, then the guy traded in what is now my truck, on an SRT-4, and I couldn't resist myself so I traded. I'd start wheelin' and a dealin' with them. Maybe even look at a new one?

 

neither, you can buy a new 04 SLT Quad Hemi for that much. Plus , when financing, you get a better rate on new vs. used. Dont get ripped, do your research and get lots of quotes.

 

i just got a 02 ram1500 4x4 4.7 auto with 3.90s and factory tow setup.i got it for 19k pretty much fully loaded.oh yeah i also got bumper to bumper 8/80k warranty to.oh yeah its got 20k on it and really looks like new inside and out.
