Default Plugs/Wires

I was thinking I would replace my own stuff on my truck instead of paying 70 bucks to have a machanic do the same, So I was wondering, what spark plugs and what plug wires I should use to replace my old ones. I want to get something good but I don't need any crazy iridium plugs that clam 2 hp + and cost 8 bucks a piece. I think the gap should be .04 in on the plugs. I got a 1998 ram 1500 5.9L 4x4 71k miles and I don't think it ever had its wires replaced, I'm gonna double check all the maintence records that I got, when I bought the truck,

I would appriciate the help,
Thanks,
Mike.

I am a fan of the autolite plugs, and the MSD 8mm or 8.5mm wires, which has worked out well for me.

Also a fan of the MSD 8.5's, the autolite 3923's are suppose to be good for 5 hp, but in a heavy truck like yours I doubt you would feel 5 hp.

I put in the Bosch +4 plugs about 3000 miles ago and have had no problem with them. Noticed a slight "off the light" pickup over the stock champion plugs that were in there before them.

No wires for me I got the stock ignition coils - anyone ever see any aftermarket replacements they could suggest?

So you can go with either 8 or 8.5 mm wires, and they will both work right, whats the benefit of going bigger, or staying smaller? Anyone use NGK plugs?

Yes you can use either wire. I use NGK V-power and love them.
