Default 2001 4x4 1500 Help!

I just turned over 58,000 miles. I noticed the check engine light came on. I checked everything and it appears fine. Does the light come on automatically at 58,000 to remind me of a service check? Its driving me crazy. Thanks!

No, the lights not programmed to turn on automaticallyfor routineservice checks, unless something wrong. I'd take it to someone to see if it's got any codes.

auto zone will scan it for free. sometimes with OBD2 cars, if it sees a problem 1 time it will set a light even though the problem might be gone. It is programmed to reset itself after it goes so long without seeing a problem but depending on the system it could take a while to do so. Have it scanned and let us know what it says. If everything feels fine and you gas mileage is not affected (O2 sensor can go bad and the only way youll kno wit, besides the CEL, is because your gas mileage goes to hell) then you will probalby be alright. </P>

Thanks yall, it went off earlier but came on again....I messed with the gas cap. Reckon it could be getting some leakage or something? I went to an Advanced Auto and all they put on it was a deal to check the battery and the alternator.
