Default 4.7 V8 Exhaust Question

I know i'm going to change the exhaust...its just a matter of when and what to go with. I'm currently considering the Flowmaster 40 or 50 series. My questions are:

Which is the better to go with?

What size pipes should i have exiting??? (Single in/Dual out)

I've called one place and they quoted me 376.00 for a single 3" in/dual 3" out. I'm pretty sure that i read something in here about the out side should be lowered to 2.5"...I just wanna be sure

Last question:

Has anyone had any problems with there warranty by changing out the Air intake...not just the filter , but the whole thing?

Thnx all

I have the flowmaster cat back with the 40 series. $320 to my door from summit. Took about an hour in my driveway. I love the sound. I find a slight drone at a certain rpm but overall i am very happy with it.

when I had my 4.7L I put a 3" in and 2 2.5" out (14" Magnaflow), with a mod. cat. I didn't have any problems and also had a AirAid Intake kit.

Thanks for the feedback. I considered the bolt on system...but i want the pipes to exit behind each wheel. Now i have to find a shop with a decent price!!!! So far the only price i've gotten is from California Concepts..and they want 376.00 for a 3" single in/dual 3" out....with 2 12" tips. I don't know which muffler that comes with...the 40 or 50 series.

My flowmaster system exits behind the rear wheels. I kinda like it better than out under the bumper. Although the system is set up that all i have to do is take off the tips and run pipe straight out the back if i wanted

Oh....i didn't realize Flowmaster sold the bolt on system that way..i thought they were straight out the back unless you went to a shop and had it done.

I just keep reading different opinions about dual exhaust. Some say you gain hp and torque...others say you lose....i always thought you gained!!
