Dunes in Michigan? How big (acres)? ... to compare to other dunes I've been to. Pismo beach is one of my favorites but has been cut down signfiicantly by parks & recreation to preserve them :-( . Used to go into some pretty deep bowls with the orv's and have a blast. Competiton hill was also an awesome spot on Friday & Saturday's & nights.

From the Michigan DNR Web site:
" Silver Lake State Park is a 3000-acre park in Oceana County bordered by Lake Michigan. This area includes both dune country and acres of mature forest. The dune ridges and valleys are mostly windblown sand and lack trees, scrub brush and dune grass. The dune area is sometimes compared to a desert. Silver Lake State Park contains more than four miles of Lake Michigan shoreline and boasts a large sandy beach.
In 1919, Carrie E. Mears donated 25 acres of land for park purposes. The park's boundary was dedicated in 1951 and a master plan was officially approved in 1964. Now, nearly 2,000 acres of sand dunes are available for exploration and hiking. One of the park's biggest draws is the 450-acre off-road vehicle area.
Location:
The park is eight miles west of Hart and 36 miles north of Muskegon. Follow signs west of US-31 at either the Hart or Shelby exit.

time for an alignment. everyone at DF.com would cry if they seen the amount of stock parts I replaced on that truck...

Well I guess me and billyd are the only ones interested at this point.
although we could make it a 1 day Saturday trip instead of an all weekend one,
if that will work with peoples schedule better.
And you don't need a modified truck like Billyd's to run around on the dunes, mines bone stock and does fine. All you need to do is watch your speed so you don't go air-born.
