Default Looked at '01 1500.. clicking in front in question

2001, Ram 1500, 5.2, 4x4, 5spd, reg cab, 110k miles

This truck is SO basic that it doesn't even have A/C.
As I was test driving, it had a clicking sound from both front wheels going faster with increasing speed. 2wd, 4wd, forward, backward, turning, etc....

The guy at the lot said that he didn't even know it was making a noise, but would have a mechanic look at on Monday to see what the noise is.
Other, than that, it ran great, shifted great, and the price is the best part.

Any ideas???
BTW: I did try searching, but I couldn't find one thing related.

Thanks,
Mike

if its been 4wdriven a lot you can also get mud that works it way into the tyre cavity. when it dries it clunks around quite loudly. if the mechanic dosent find anything maybe take it to a tyre shop and get them to take the tyre of the hub for a look

New Zealand, God Damn it.

we do spell it like that, just like we have a mum and not a mom, we have colours not colors, i wish i could think of some more to really hammer the point home.

Oh no, my conscience just turned up, i cant lie. i have spelt it wrong. but the mum and colour ones are true

looks like theres no escaping the spelling police.

well done officer badram, another evil misspeller successfully caught

sounds like a wheel bearing to me .... those are 125 a piece,
and then it could also be WASTED u-joints on both sides...which are a "b!" to replace....

PS... dodge front ends are POS's.
i replaced all of mine already.. everything, from wheel bearings, to u-joints , and ball joints, etc. all the steering, plus the steering gearbox, ect tie rods, tie rod ends, ect... thousands invested.what a waste, i could have added 10 inch air bags.....

If it does it when turning the steering wheel, check the sway bar links. They cost $20 to $40 each. They are tie-rod end looking things with no grease fittings that mount between the sway bar ends and the truck frame. I replaced them on both my '97 and '98 4x4 Rams, so they do go bad. If that turns out to be the problem, somehow try to make sure that they install the right ones. When I replaced mine, they first gave me ones that fit loosely in the swaybar and those eventually fell off. For the '97 and '98 1500's, they are tapered where they mount to the sway bar. I don't know for sure about a '01

So back in France...I mean, New Zealand, when you need to wax your truck you go looking for *******?[&:]

By the way, we spell it "colours" up here in Canada as well, an addition to pronouncing it roof, not ruff
