2004 Ram QC 4x4 Hemi Exhaust
Hi,
Just Purchased a 2004 Ram QC 4x4 Laramie with the 5.7 Hemi. I'm looking at replacing the muffler with a 3inch in/2.5 in dual out and running dual tailpipes out the back. I'm looking for a low rumble at idle, quiet highway noise, and a good roar when I get hard on the gas. Which muffler would giv eme what I'm looking for? Flowmaster 50, Flowmaster 40, Magnaflow, Gibson, Borla, Corsa, ??
Thanks,

From what I've been reading pretty much everyone prefers the Flowmaster 50 series. One owner purchased the 40 series and said at crusing speed on the fwy the low drone coming from the 40's is annoying.
I'm also shopping and I think I'm going to lean towards the 50 series.

GT - I just had a MagnaFlow 14589 SI/SO installed on my '04. It's everything you are looking for in the sound department. Of course, going with duals out changes the equation somewhat. Sometime back, I replaced the '04 tailpipe with builtin resonator for an '03 tailpipe. If the original tailpipe were still on, I doubt I'd see much difference.
I've got the Flowmaster 40 series too. It's true what Airbrat said--good rumble all the time, great roar when you stomp on it, but it's loudest at 1800-2000rpm which is cruising speed on the highway. Doesn't bother me at all, but if you want something quiet on the highway, this isn't your muffler!
