Ring replacement? May as well just call it rebuilding the motor.
With labor at a dealership you're talking $2500.00.
Do it yourself? Better have quite a bit of know how and the service manuals. Then you're talking $1000

I'd start there (plenum) 1st, and do a tuneup at the same time, and swap the wires (I recommend MSD 8.5 super condutors). monitor the #8 cylinder for oil fouling before tearing into it, 9 times out of 10 the plenum is leaking which will burn oil pretty good depending on how bad it is. If your #8 plug wire is bad & not firing, you may have some oil buildup on it from the plenum leak.
