strange problem with my ram
Just a thought james,
I just got my wifes car back from the dealer the other day. She started a new job Monday and when it was time to go home everything was OK but it would not come out of park. I went to rescue her and found the brake light fuse blown and it would blow them as fast as you could put them in. (The car woun't come out of park without stepping on the brake, hence the original problem) I unplugged all three brake lights, same problem. We found the limp home procedure in the owners manual. On the way home the air conditioner compressor would not come on. Everything else worked fine. The dealer found a loose ground strap bolt and everything works now. Bad grounds can do some weird things.

aye that would freak me out, probably **** me off, too. before i got myself into any "big" projects, searchin for wires and relays etc, i took the svc managers advice and checked the tow plug. sure enough, it was corroded to hell so i unplugged it from the wiring (just the round plug) and then tried the backup lights.... they came on when they should, turned off when they should.... seems to be working now. so, one of these days, im gonna be making a trip to the dealership to buy another plug and hopefully, the problem wont be back anytime soon.
in the meantime, i put a plastic baggy over the end of the wiring harness and sealed it off with some trusty duct tape, to keep water out of it
