dodge d100 rear axle ratios

anyone know the codes for axle ratios on a 8.25" Dodge rear axle for D100? it has a tag on the diff cover that says 2.7 how do we find out for sure? 5.2L EFI Auto long bed 1989 D100

It's a 2.70 rearend gear. Great for economy.

that's what I thought, but doubted my "old car experience" because it's so tall compared to my
93 D150LE CC 3.55"s 4 spd auto & 9.25"
found a set of 3.55's cheap, but that's too drastic a change,
since my son uses this truck and gas money is scarce when you're 15, huh?

That is steep for a truck, but as you know that truck wasn't meant to haul or tow a bunch of anything. Besides, that 2.70 should discourage him from racing much.[sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley2.gif]
