KEYLESS ENTRY RUMOR
Well here is what I have herd twice now. That many trucks especially "SLT" models have the unit, brain, receiver or what ever the correct terminology is for keyless entry system regardless if you have the key fob transmitters. All you have to do is purchase the fobs, program them and your set?
Is there a super Mopar guru that can confirm this for me? Perhaps even tell me where the unit is located so that I can make a visual conformation.
It sure would be nice to add this upgrade at a fraction of the cost, at the time I purchased the truck, the dealer did offer it but is some ungodly amount of money and at the very least I could go to a nicer aftermarket setup, for much less.
Thank you!!

What years would that include? I have a 99 SLT Laramie that has all the bells and whistles except that ? Which seems weird considering that it has every other electronic feature.
I heard in the past on this forum that there is a black module near the ABS setup, mine being a 2000 doesnt have a keyless entry and it is an SLT. From what I can see though is the slt doesn't really add that much. Mine has pw,pdl,ac,cc,rear flip open windows for options and that's it. Doesn't sound like much to me. I'd expect an upgraded stereo (had crappy cassette), trip computer, driving lights and the auto lights like my Jeep Grand Cherokee had.... oops focus steve focus... sorry guys. Mine has no black box in that area mentioned.
I bought my 02 used and when I picked it up, it did not have a fob and was amazed that it did not have keyless entry! The salesman took my VIN to the service department to verify. They told me that I would have by the entire system. I ended up with an after market keyless and alarm system.
Well that is why my interest is somewhat high, I have a 2000 QC with all the do-dads, trip puter, heated mirrors, power seat, on and on... but I don't have the keyless entry? Seems a bit odd, but it sure would be nice.
" jon5137" Can you tell me where the unit is located? Thank you!

I hate to be the bubble buster here, but all trucks DO NOT have the keyless entry modules on them. ALL trucks have a central timer module that controls the keyless, but you still need the keyless module to make it all work. On 2002 and up 1500 and 2003 up 2500 and 3500 the keyless entry modules in on the back on the instrument cluster. It plugs into a recessed areathat is about 3 inches square. If your truck did not come equiped with keyless, you cannot just buy transmitters and program them to work.
