your talking about cutting the runners down on your intake manifold... cut the runners down 1~1.5", radius the injector bores and clean up the TB openings. it will breath really well above 3000 rpms. it's not a free mod as it will cost you in cutting & polishing matterials.

If I were you, first I would try to find one from a wrecked truck, then try it out on your truck after you have it done. If you Fu(K your intake up you will have a stand by to replace it with. Thats what I would do at least.
