Raw Diesel smell in AC
Problem,
I'm getting a raw diesel smell through the AC, but only when I'm stoped or moving slow.
I took it in to the dealer, the said they couldn't find it. But he did spray something in the ducks to mask the smell for a few days. I can't find anything loose or anything wet on the engine, but the smell is still there.
Any idea's??

try this for mold smell might work for you theres a tsb that the shop will drill a hole in the plastic housing right before the evaporater and spray a fungeside to kill the mold funges
in the evaporater it can really be nasty to breath spores in from funges it can grow black mold whitch we all know to be harmfull
its dark wet and worm with that combo you get mold and funges it will happen in any evaporater well if you try the hole drill methad
be carfull not to drill into the evaporater and dont forget to fill the hole in it might cause noise if you drill a big hole like i did and put a boat plug in it then you can fix the smell every year and get it all clean with a hose.

I have never heard of that... that is odd.
But if Drew is right, and it is the breather tube... try running your a/c on recirc and that should help.
(you will be recycleing inside air, rather than bringing outside air in)

phil, the reason I said that is when I bought my truck off the lot w/ 68 miles and 4 hrs on her the smell was horrendous, after a little pokeing and proding I cought a whiff of the breather tube and nearly gagged. I didnt think castrol smelled that bad, but then again I was used to the auto stuff and not the diesel 15-40 blend.
for the next 25K I used Delo 1300 and never had a problem with odors. just changed to Amsoil about 1K ago and even though it smells a bit more industrial than Delo1300 dino, I have yet to catch a whiff of anything putrid through my A/C, unless I have an old ford power joke infront of me smokeing out an intersection
