Default Towing ???'s

What is the capacity of a 04 qc with the 3.92 's and tow package. I'm looking at trailering a supra to vegas. And wondering if I need anything like trailer brakes. I was told by a friend that you cannot flt tow with less than a 2500.

Well I'm in a 2000 QC 5.9 and constantly two heaver items to Vegas without a problem. I do however use trailer brakes. I'm in Victorville, and do this often in the summer months, during the off-road race season.

That's ridiculous!! You can safely tow around 9000lbs with the right setup on a 1500. The hitch is a class 4 which is rated for 12,000lbs and 1,200lb tongue weight.
Yes, you should have a trailer with brakes... but that applies to a 2500 and 3500 just the same. I would only consider a 2500 or 3500 if you have a goose-neck / fifth wheel and over 10,000. You have maybe 1/2 that.

Every state requires trailer brakes for trailers weighing above a certain weight. Most are somewhere around 1500 to 2000 lbs. Whatever it is in your state you can be sure you are exceeding it. You DO need trailer brakes!
