Default HEMI- MPG ?

I'm looking into buying a truck. I like the SLT short bed with the 20"'s. I drive 80 miles round trip to work. Thats a lot of gas. Seems to be that most Ram owners are getting 15-17 mpg on the highway and under 10 mpg in city driving. Right now I drive a Corolla and spend about $120 a month on gas. Holds about 11 gallons and gets about 34 mpg driving 75 mph. I'll miss that part of it but not the 1.8L 4 cylinder engine. I'm thinking of holding on to this car as a commuter car and using the Ram maybe 2 to 3 times a week. What do you guys think?

My mileage is a bit better than what your stating (15.5-16.5 cty, 19-20.5 hwy), but it's a truck with 345 HP and that power isn't cheap. We love the truck. We use ours the same way you do. I'd say go for it.[sm=smiley20.gif]

If someone is getting 10 MPG, they are going full throttle EVERYWHERE, and stopping every 200 feet, lol.

I took a little trip around the Puget sound area of Washington....60 mph for 250 miles....avg was 20.3 mpg using cruise control Wife went on vacation 2500 miles of mixed hiway and city driving.....avg 17.9 mpg with very little use of cruise control do to traffic density

That being said...if mpg means a lot to you.....don't buy a truck. You won't ever be happy with the mpg of any truck because a car with the same engine will get lots better mileage and perform better (weight and aerodynamics)

However...you can't have my Hemi...I love it

My commute to work every day is very short (about 6 miles round trip), but it is a lot of stop and go traffic, so my mileage is 12-13 mpg. For that reason, I'm looking into getting a motorcycle to offset the cost of gas.... and to look cool
Other then that, I've just delt with the high cost of gas and enjoy the hell out of my truck

there are some new hybrid vehicles that get exceptional milage, maybe that is what you should be looking at. High horsepower cars don't get good milage. Good milage for a truck is 15+mpg.
