Squeeking Noise while in Drive
I have a 2001 4x4 automatic, I have this squeeking noise while in drive. I can be sitting still in my drive and the noise will come, if I put in reverse it will go away. It will also happen while I am driving. I can't find it. The crazy thing is, it only happens while in Drive. HELP!!!!!!!

I had the same squeek. My noise came from the shift linkage on my colum shifter. Look under the truck and find the linkage that goes to the tranny. You'll notice that the linkage passes through rubber grommets. These dry out and when they do they squeek and the noise travels through the steering colum and drives you nuts. Squirt some silicone spray or wd40 on the rubber every 6 months or so. no more squeek. Let me know.

Hello my fellow Dodge Friends,

I would like to thank you for you help in my squeaking problem. I have a friend at my church who is amech. for Chrysler. He informed me about the website that Dodge and Chrysler have to assist the mech. to troubleshoot problems when people like us bring in our trucks for repairs.

I went to the site typed in my VIN# and found my truck information. There was a Technical Service Bullentin (TSB) about this problem, the TSB # is 21-001-03, it gives you a blueprint of the Transmission Linkage and step by step instructions to fix the problem. If any of you have this problem and can't find the information and would like for me to fax you the info, feel free to email me with a fax # and I will be happy to send it.
