I recently purchased a new Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 with a Diesel engine. I have put over 8000 miles on the vehicle, and I am averaging 9 MPG towing and 12-13 in town. In addition, whenever I accelerate the truck fills the road with black smoke. I have taken the truck to three dealerships to have the problem looked at, but no one can offer me any answers. I was wondering if anyone has a similar problem.

Thanks!

One possibility is the air filter is blocked but at that mileage I don't think so. Another problem may be the injection pump or fuel
delivery. You can also check to see if all the clamps on the air intake to cooler to turbo are installed properly.

Hope this helps
