Default Oil Change

Sorry I did a search, but didnt see much about length of time for oil change for the 5.7 Hemi. I was just reading the manual and It says basically if you dont drive in hard conditions you can change oil every 6k miles. I dont know about hard but I just drive around town mostly. I live in Georga so the temp isnt extreme in either season, but I do drive alot of trips that are less than 10 miles which puts me into the "change every 3k miles". I was just always raised to change it every 3k, but if I can do it every 6k heck that may just make it easier to explain to my wife why I wanted a truck that gets 14mpg. Yeaaa

I really can't answer your question, but I wanted to say hey since I'm in Ga too (Kennesaw, north of Atlanta).
I've been changing my oil every 3k in my Hemi. I don't drive it too hard, but most of my driving is done locally and I don't get that many highway miles. This is my 1st brand new truck/car, so I'm going to take good car of it. So far I've had almost 9k of flawless driving in it so far.

what would you wife say you buying a truck that only gets 14mpg and got lots of problems because you dont take care of it?
lucky you to get 14mpg, my last 2 tanks only give me like 11-12mpg - all local street driving.
