hemi issues? you are not alone
Hello all,
I have been noticing a great deal of problems with the hemi engine and think it is about time all the different forums start comparing notes. The three major problems I have been reading about online are (in order of importance):
1. Broken valve springs
2. stalling / hesitation
3. Hemi noise ticking.
(remove the dash in links below that contain dodge-talk. For some reason when I type them out correctly they turn in to ****)
I think it makes sense to focus on the valve spring issue first as it can produce the most headaches. an example here as well as the thread currently running on dodgeforum.com http://www.dodge-talk.com/forums/sho...hp?t=19326Also, keep in mind that failing valve springs could leave a valve OPEN which would cause... you guessed it.. stalling and hesitation. Starting to see a bigger picture here?
I would like to work together with all the forums to gather as much info as possible. any objections? thoughts? opinions?
here are some links to start with.. more to come.

Getting all the forums together is all well and good, but not sure if it will do much good. Is there an official dodge complaint webpage or something that we can try to get everyone that has problems to go to. This might get dodge to finally realize that the hemi sounds more like a diesel then anything else. Or maybe a credible company (like a better business bureau for autos?!?!) that can force dodge to investigate the problem.
Let's remember that one of the problems that contributed to the original HEMI's demise was valve train problems (especially noise). Granted, the EPA had more to do with it than anything, but the point remains - the valve train geometry for a Hemi is tricky.
Although the lure of a Hemi tugged at me when I got my Ram, I felt that there was going to be issues that were going to resolved as with any new engine.

If you go to this web site-www.autosafety.org/consumercomplaint.php
you can post any complaints you have, plus read other peoples issues
with Dodge(or any other vehical). I believe they will send Dodge a notice also, but not sure.

Is there alot of Hemi trucks with these problems? I've read and found alot of post on the internet about people having issues with certain things and even possibly needing an entierly new engine. Is this basically a 1 out of 100 kind of thing, Since this is the internet of course we'll see alot of people with problems and issues, But how many of you truely have had a trouble free truck? Makes me want to steer clear of having an expensive vehicle that will stall, and brake on me constantly [:'(]
