can high idle actually hurt the car? If not what damages can it inflict?

Default RE: high idle

other then causing excessive wear & tear...not sure, but I just fixed my high idle (2000 RPM). I ended up having a number of problems which I had to fix one at a time. 1st Bad MAS sensor 2nd. Timing and throttle body adjustments where way off. 3rd Burned out stator on my IAC, causing the throttle body air adjust to be manually adjusted all the way in. the computer was doing the best it could, but the IAC was locked all the out. Finally, ( and I still need to finish) is to adjust the idle control screw and cables. ( I have a 92 ES )
