Sounds like a bad master or clutch to me. More information about the problem would help a little.

I have a similar problem and i plan to bleed the slave cylinder first and see if that helps and if it doesnt i will replace it. Because my clutch pulls great but only the last part of the pedal play gives me the in and out of the clutch which kills my leg and foot reachign all the way down there...

My 91 ES just started doing something similar. Every once in a while the clutch pedal seems to stick down, not fully dis-engaging. I put my foot under it and popped it back up and it seems to work OK for a while. It seems to occur after driving for 15 minutes or more. The clutch fluid level looks OK and I doubt the clutch is going due to the intermittant symptoms. What did you guys find?

I did the clutch pedal freeplay adjustment and it works great now. Took a bit to figure out since im still waiting on my manual to make it through the mail. Its EASY though once ya figure out whats going on and how to adjust it. IT made all the difference in the world on my clutch leg. Though that is STILL the stiffest clutch i have EVER used.

I finally found my clutch slave cylinder is leaking allowing air into the end of the system. Apparently this prevented my clutch from fully disengaging causing the 'automatic tranny like' symptom and difficulty getting into gear. It also helps to pull the cap off of the clutch master cylinder to check level instead of looking through the translucent housing (darn ring around the collar!).
