*another problem
ok so ive been hearing this odd sound when i drive, i thought it was just the tires but its apprantly its the front right wheel bearing, (i had it diagnosed) just wondering if its a job i could do by myself or should i go ahead and pay the shop 350$ for parts and labor?

The front bearing have to be pressed in. That price seems awfully steep...how many hours do they have it booked for? 100 bucks for the bearing and 3 hours labor?

 

yep part is 119$, sigh... yes in labor.

 

It is a job that can be done in the garage...if you have the room and the tools and the time. You'll just have to go somewhere to get the bearing pressed into (and out of) the hub.

 

im going to have to take the hit right now my life is really busy and alot of crap just happened with the girlfriend :*( its ok i guess... anyway thestealth ur always such a good help, always have all the answers to my dumb questions, i mean u knew it was the wheel bearing and i was barly discriptive at all.. so thanks for always helpin! and also, ur rims are so bad ***! how did u get them black? anodizing?

I had my wheels powder coated.

 

i must say i had no idea the bearing had to be pressed in. And they are expensive as well. I had to repack the bearings on my bird but it took 10$ for grease and few tools. I still vote that you should still do most of the work and go get the bearing presses in. And i agree, most things i know about stealth's i got from "thestealth" responces. Going from under the hood of a bird to a stealth is like a whole another world, and twise more complicated as well.

 

Yep, they're sealed bearings. If you buy one from the dealer, it's alot more expensive and you buy the whole steering knuckle/hub, but it can be swapped without having to press in the bearing.
A lot of front wheel drive cars have rear bearings that can be repacked with grease...not so on these cars as even the rears are sealed units although they can be replaced pretty easily with no need for a press.

 

car just got out of the shop, rides so nice.. seriously feels like a new car its amazing that ive had that problem for so long. thanks for all ur help pplz
