Need engine help

Default Need engine help

Have loud tick in the engine, seems to be like a lifter or something, changed oil to different weights and revved engine with no luck in changing the tick. any other suggestions?? lash adjusters maybe?? has new timing belt. is 1993 stealth e/s DOHC 3.0 V6 engine

If it's just lifter tick, it's really just an annoyance. You could try something like a seafoam treatment, I've heard that helps. Nothing is a "cure" though except changing the lifters to the 3rd generation style. They have slightly larger oil passages than what you have now. Even then, I've heard they still develope a tick once in a while.

My friend has a 92 Twin Turbo lots of mods and had a lifter tick put the 3rd gen lifters in problem solved

It seems that maybe this is the timing belt tensioner, could the tensioner cause ticking in the engine? bearing out maybe? It will stop ticking at about 3500 rpms.
