Default Tranny problems

91 stealth n/a transmission has had slight hesitation and shifting but barely noticeable for a few days. Got in this morning, no reverse..checked fluid was 3/4 quart low, added and it shifted fine. Drove 100 miles no problems, stopped to get gas..got in and no gears at all. stuck in neutral. Did the analog volt meter check that I found on stealth 316 reads fine. checked filter very old and crusty looking, maybe original. Any ideas what the problem could be? where is the TCU located? Any help would be appreciated.

i have a 92 with an automatic and it was slipping just barely...i had mine rebuilt and im still waiting to put it back in..it almost sounds like your trans could use a new filter and fluid. try that before you do anything else as its the cheapest and easiest thing to do before you go ripping into the trans.

TCU is usually the common problem of trans acting up due to leaking capacitors.
ecmtogo can rebuild them.

Tcu - Located in front of the shifter , under the console , Just pop the side panels off to get at it.....If it smells like fish - Then its bad . .. I bought a rebuilt one off of ebay for 300.00 buck and it fixed mine right up .. Mine was slipping and it would not go into drive...I hope this helps...Good Luck...These are nice cars --- But they *SUCK* when they break $$$.
