Default putting in a new (used) motor

the motor on my car is pretty much dead it needs more, time, and effort than its worth so i was thinking that i would just buy a used motor from someone who had one up for sale i wast wondering if its worth it to spend the time and money to put it in to me its personaly worth it but is it going to last long enough that i could keep my hopes up on keep the car for a while?

thank you everyone
Nik

well it all depends on wat you pay for the motor, mileage, and how well the seller took care of the motor..it also depends on how much work youre willing to put into it if you buy it and it turns out to be a lemon or something

well the guy wanted to sell it to me for 550 flat and he said that it came with everything to just hook it back up, and as far as work i'm not really worried about how long or much work it takes because its summer and i dont have anything better to do anyway. But do you think it would be more benifissal to find a rebuilt motor or to have my motor rebuilt because that way i would know that i'm getting something good for my money??

well thats wat i did..i was going to put a rttt motor in but i decided not to because i didnt know wat id be getting...mine cost me about $1000 total to have bored and the crank ground and all the new parts that went into it..even if you get the other motor, you might want to rip it apart anyways because then youll be able to see for sure wat youre getting and it might be a bad engine

You can get some good advice on www.3SI.org I used to own a VR4. Nothing was cheap on that car. I had a blast driving it. I sold it for $8k with over 400 awhp, in goodies. I miss that car.
