If you absolutely need a motor, I've got a '91 SOHC for sale with a bit less than 160k on it. I'd say check out 3sx.com though for parts if you're up to building one.

yea thanks but no thanks the car is a dohc and i have a sohc engine out of a 91 as well for sale

try flushing oil before getting new motor. Also you can try listening for the noise with the screwdriver. It helps to pinpoint where the noise is coming from.

i figured out that the problem was a rod bearing. would this problem always damage the crank and rod?thanks for the help

You will have to tear it down to see if it damaged the crank journals or the rod ...
