Default New stealth owner tranny question

I just picked up a 94 R/T DOHC,with an auto tranny.I paid $1000.00 for the car.It is very clean ,and runs great with no leaks, and no engine noise at all.The interior is flawless. It drives fine, but when I put it i gear,it makes a noise like a bad power steering pump(a whining noise)I swear it sounds just like a power steering pump that is low on fluid.,but it only happens when the car is in gear, and the steering is fine and doesnt affect the sound when I turn.Is this normal,or am I in for problems.
thanks in advance .

Josh

well, it is definitely not normal. My guess either torque converter or tranny needs to be rebuilt.
also it is possible belts making noise under load. Take the belts off and try driving in gear to see if noise is still there.

Well it does not have any issues with driving, and I am sure its not a belt.If it was converter it would not shift right.I wonder if it could be transmission pump?

it could be the pump making the noise, the only sure way to find out is to pull the tranny
