Stealth R/T Power steering leak
I recently purchased a 1995 Dodge Stealth in decent condition with a few small problems. The big problem is I need the power steering working to certify the car legally for the road in canada. The power steering is leaking in the front right side but I cant get a good look to see where its coming from. Is this probably just a hose or could it be the pump or even worse the rack? My mechanical skills are very basic so I would be able to change a hose out but if its anything more complex like a pump or the rack I would need to find a mechanic. I just was wondering if leaking from the right side of the engine indicated anything. Thanks.
If it's gushing out, it's probably a hard line that runs along the steering rack. The line goes under the bracket that holds the rack to the subframe and it rots out right there a lot of times. You should be able to climb under the car and see that it's really wet in the area of that bracket. The line can be purchased from the dealership (probably mitsubishi) and changed out with some normal tools and a set of crows feet wrenches.

A very timely post, I have a similar issue. Mine is a '93 Stealth ES. I have a PS high pressure leak.
I got under the car and I can see clearly where the leak is. Looking at my service manual, I believe these tubes that are exposed right at the bottom of the car are the cooler tubes. There are 2 of them running side-by-side. Now, they both have this hard plastic tubing section that connects the metal tubing on both sides. On one of these connections, the metal tubing side is rusted a bit and the plastic tubing is blown out a bit and leaks as a result.
You know that plastic tubing is very hard, you can't bend it with your fingers, so I'm wondering how it became blown out like it is. Maybe on some hot days the plastic was slightly melted and the high pressure was slowly but surely blowing it out? Anyways, does anybody have any ideas if I were to fix this myself. I've done a water pump and timing belt replacement on this car, so I have some practice at this sort of stuff.
Thanks very much!

The tubes running along the rack pressurize the rack in each direction so you can turn right/left with ease. The cooler is mounted to the front of the car.
The only thing the plastic is there for is to keep the tubing from rubbing. The plastic is actually covering the metal lines. Any of the lines can be purchased new from the dealer still (mitsu, not dodge). Try calling up Cherry Hill Mitsubishi www.mitsparts.com for a discount. They stock a vast majority of the 3000GT/Stealth parts.
