Default stealth reliability

hey everyone and bye that i mean no one that owns or has ever drving or ridin in a stealth keeps telling me that even a little tiny bit of speeding will kill it. They keep saying that even if i babyit and do all the outine work and oil changes ect. that drag racing once a month at highschool wars and like going 70 on the high way will ruin my stealth. Please tell me that this is not true i baby my car and i want to have fun with it. is it safe as long as i baby it and give it everything it needs?

I've had my green RT for almost 6 years and have driven hard every chance I get. It now has over 150k on it and I still drive it plenty hard. I don't go to the track, but I still run it plenty hard through the gears, have cruised on the interstate at 90+ for many miles, taken corners faster than I should have and have had no malfunctions because of it. My hard driving has wore through many a brake pad, and warped a few rotors shutting down from high speeds.
These cars are no more or less reliable than any car that gets driven hard. As with any automobile, preventive maintenance is the key. Keep your fluids changed on a regular basis (oil every 3k, tranny fluid every 25k and coolant every 30-50k). Of course going to the dragstrip will be hard on your car, but that is the price you gotta pay when you race. These are sports cars (grand tourers really) and they are designed to GO, not to be babied. The caveat to that is, it has likely been "driven hard" its whole life and will have things break that wouldn't normally break.

Do you have a Twin Turbo thestealth? As far as the transmission is concerned. I have heard the 6-speed has had some problems, but he 5-speed seems to be fine.

I do. It has 175K on the stock 5-speed. I think all three trannies (5 & 6 speed and fwd 5 speed) suffer from weak synchro's, but most of those problems come from power shifting. I could be mixed up, but I seem to recall more people having problems with the 5 speed tranny. The 6 speed is a beefier unit, but then people started having problems with the transfer case as it is the same. Like I said, I could be confusing the two.
