Engine oil
I use Amsoil Racing and to help with the smoking I use Lucas Synthetic oil stabalizer if it does not smoke Just plane old Amsoil or Mobil 1, Motoul stay away from Castarol NFG. Amsoil is the best product on the market I have tested it over the past almost four years. I have put the oil to the extrean test 30.000 miles pullintg heavy loads no oil change or filter in a 1997 F 150 the oil is as slick as a babys butt. I sell it but I started out a user now I don't run anything but Amsoil in everything I own. Cars my old sail boat engine (Atomic 4) pushing a 38 foot boat at full power for 7000 miles that aint bad. if you want to get hooked up you can become a prefered customer for I think twenty bucks and a dealer for thirty and buy the stuff at wholesale or I will get it for you. This is no scam the oil is shipped from Amaoil to you I never see the stuff unless I buy a few cases to sell retail. Jim at krugerrand38@yahoo.com or call me at 305-896-0930. I will be glad to show you the specs on the oil. www.amsoil.com Jim (the Jakster) Jacobs Amsoil dealer.
What ever you use be sure to put a can of flush in your old oil for a half hour at idle to get the varnish off the engine case or you will still have some carbon floating around and that is what causes the wear its like fine sandpaper. Synthetic preamiun oils like Amsoil and Moutil ,Mobil 1 I placed Mobil 1 at the end because thats where they stand in tests, don't have any carbons in them. The transmission will be better off also because Amsoil transmission fluid runs from 20-50% cooler that any other fluid on the market this is not a sales hype just facts. Seven Nascar teams run Amsoil but they have big oil company sponsors so they dont have Amsoil posted on the car.

OK so if you read the tests Amsoil was the clear winner but some people had some concern with the viscosity going up as the miles increased. I find this to not be a problem but an aset to the Amsoil. The breakdown of viscosity is the reason most oils start to break down after just a few hundred miles. The test was for thousands,my own test is ongoing and is at 33.000 miles. Thjis was one report from the link on Mobil 1. This is it. Amsoil is done! They mean the test at 14.000 miles The oil exceeded a year in service, with 14,000 miles on the ticker, and no filter change! Well, if the year hadn't ended, we would have had to change the filter now -- it finally reached our insolubles cap, 2,000 miles after Mobil 1. The main thing that stands out on this, our final Amsoil sample, is the ridiculous viscosity. This 5W30 oil has now thickened out to a 15W40 -- argue whether it matters if you like, but we believe engine builders spec an oil for a reason, and this oil is far, far thicker now than intended for the LS1. Switching to our flush Mobil 1 netted a nearly instant 10% improvement in fuel economy, and the engine runs a heckuva lot smoother too. To Amsoil's credit, wear metals remain in check, but we will soon see whether that was really thanks to the oil or just to engine break-in. We'll start posting detailed analysis in the coming weeks. as for the high milage cars like mine I use Amsoil racing 40W and Lucas synthetic oil stabalizer because the old tired engine is at 225.000 miles and smokes. I had to back off this week end at 135mph because of traffic out in the country where I like to run hwy 41 from Everglades City to Florida City boonies. My point is not only is the engine still strong but the oil being thicker is not a problem in hotter climes. If you are in the north however you want thinner oil so you dont get cold starts wich are limited by Amsoil because it clings to the parts but you still want it thinner so use a 5w20w in the winter and racing 40 in the summer the Lucas does reduce the smoking some but at seventy five I cant see it anyway.
