Yes, you can find 92's for less than 9k.

If you do be vary carefull. Its a 12 year old car. If the owner has taken good care of the car you could actually save money in the long run by paying a higher purchase price.

Drive the car and see how the transmission shifts.
Watch for klunking from the drive lind when letting off the throttle. (ujoints in the drive shaft)
Let the car warm up and then sit and idle for a bit. If there is any reace of bruning oil in the exh that could mean issues with the turbos oil seals.

The exh at WOT is probably not an issue as the cars run a touch rich at full throttle.

92 Dodge Stealth
I found a 92 Dodge Stealth in my area andthey are selling it for $3500 obo. It has 110k miles and 6 or 6 minre dents and the front tires have some worn tread. The owner said it hasn't been in any accidents.

It doesn't say R/T or TT on it so it's just a normal Coupe Stealth.

I would like to know any major problems that the stealths have like tranmission problems or anything that would affect teh performance of the car itself. I am a new driver and just turned 18. I really love the look and style of the car, I will mostly be making cosmetic changes and a few performance changes. The car has Fearly nice rims and good tires besides the low tread on the front 2 tires.

The Lady i Selling the car is older in the late 40's or 50's and said the car hasn't been drivne all that much and has all the requird oil changes and there haven't been any major problems on the car. Overall the car seems like a great deal but i would love to here what anyone else would like to say.

Thank you all for your comments and i greatly appreciate all opinions

How many owners? Does it have reciepts for service performed? DOHC or SOHC motor? Auto or manual?
Has the 60k or 120k preventive maintenance been done? If not, that service alone can cost a couple grand, depending on who does the work, ie. dealer, reg. mechanic, you. This service is a must.

They are generally pretty well put together cars, but they do have their demons.

It was baught by the owner at 3000 miles and has been in the family with 2 different drivers i will be contacting the owner today and i will ask those questions and more i will have more to say tonight. IF it hasn't had preventive maintence would that be bad for the car? if it hasnt my friends dad owns a shop so he will cut me a great deal on whatever i want.

Ill try to find out who has done all the service on the car so i can contact them but i still think 3500 is a great deal. Also if it hasn't had the maintance maybe i can get 500 or more off?? Im not sure what will be happening but i will sure post whatever the owner says and mechanics.

Thanks "thestealth" for all your comments.

The 60k and 120k maintenance is very similar. They consist of plugs, wires, fuel filters, T-belt, applicable pulleys and tensioners, oil pump, water pump and some other stuff I may have not thought of. The T-belt and oil pump are of prime concern. It the t-belt breaks, major damage COULD occur to the valve train and pistons.(on the DOHC motor) The DOHC motor is what they call a "Zero Tolerance" motor, which basically means there is no margin for error. I have close to 150k on my Stealth and other than preventive maint. items it has been very reliable. I have put a few grand into keeping it in good running order, better safe than sorry type deal.....

3500 sounds pretty good. Just for reference the SOHC motor is about 170hp the DOHC is 222hp and the twin turbo has 320hp. In case you didn't know.

If you have any other questions don't hesitate to post em.
