Default Bad luck

I just bought a 1991 stealth recently and the engine busted out. Im trying to find a used one but cant find any.
its a Sohc standar transmission. The only one i found is brand new 5000 $, some other repairs need to be done on it and a body job would be nice. it got 200 000 km and im asking myself if i should put the sohc engine in the car and sell it back to buy an other one twin cam (maybe turbo) for 10 000 to 12000 $ Or should i buy a dohc engine no turbo fwd and make it fit on the car so i keep it. How do u think it could cost me. Or How much could i have for this car fully restor with a brand new Sohc engine. It never had accident but have been used during 2 winter 2 years ago so it is a litle rusty under the car and on the botom of the doors. The alternator must be change, the brakes, the cardan boot or something, and it need new tires. The fact is I dont know a **** about mechanic and i dont know what to do, and thers no performance shop near my city. Thanks anyway.

There is more to converting the SOHC to DOHC than just swapping out the engine. You should be able to get your SOHC rebuilt for alot less than $5k...? You don't need a "performance" shop to rebuild the engine, any reputable mechanic/machine shop should be able to do it.

As Stealth said, a rebuilt is better, but even a Junkyard w/a Mitsu 3000GT SOHC is same motor if you need a quick fix. Sorry to hear the bad luck...better luck from now on I hope!!!

thx for the reply.
i tried hard to find an sohc engine, used, rebuid or whatever, but i live in Val d'Or, thats 500 km northwest of Montreal... and believe me i searched and even friends of mine searche on internet, garages, all good sellers in province of quebec, even in ontario, and its very rare, no one found anything... tell me if u find one ... prferably in canada, ( i dont wanna pay half price of engine for shiping) ...
and plz tell me How much i could get for selling a fully restor ( new paint job, tires, brakes, clutch( maybe new sohc engine) A1 mechanic) 1991 dodge tealth.
... i also find an DOHC no turbo engine 900 $(130 000 km) in montreal (Osaka mortors) and i still wondering if i should put the new sohc and sell the car to buy another stealth twin cam, or i cahnge the motor for a twin cam and i keep the car. i pay it 4000$ and the frame is good, suspension transmission and direction is good.
In anyway i meet a guy, friend of my friend, whos mechanic and is looking seriously for my car to fix it up.
thx for the help guys.

Are there no mechanics where you live?? Any mechanic should be able to rebuild the motor you currently have.

first , the motor is done, it doesnt even move, so i dont have choice to change it.
anyway... i found out the current motor isnt the original one, and a guy say all the stealth are twin cam, so it will probably be less difficult to put the engine i found in it. and i also meet a good mechanic live near from me and hes a good one, worked on porsh and mercedez, etc. he just open a garage.
like i said, thx anyway... i should be fine,

"The guy" is wrong. Many Stealths were sold with the SOHC engine in it. You will not be able to change it over (and make it run) without replacing the ECU. I'm not sure if you won't have to change the wiring harness as well.
