Car not idling right
I just bought a 94 Stealth ES about 2 months ago and have replaced the spark plugs, wires, down pipe, and did an oil change. It has almost 180,000 miles, but only had 1 owner. Whenever I start the car up, especially when it is first started up, it smells like gas real bad. It always idles less than 1000 RPM. I'm thinking that it is the fuel filter, but not sure. If anyone has any good advice, please let me know so that I can get this fixed. Also, if anyone knows what kind of exhaust goes good with the ES model. I would Appreciate the help.
clean the intake where the air boot connects, i swear it's a huge problem with these, just spray some cleaner on a rag, and stick your fingers around and clean around the throttle plate.
with mine, personally i have to do it every couple months, it's just a carbon build up

Thanks for the info alot. The car idles like it should and there was alot of carbon build up in it. I appreciate all the help. Now i have another question. Does anyone know what kind of battery is best for the 1994 ES. Mine just died and must replace it soon. Thanks for any help.
Thanks for the tip. I took my battery to autozone and advance auto parts and they both said that my battery was good. It had about 11.3 voltage reading, but everytime that i shut the car off the battery was completely dead. Is there something about batteries that causes them to read good, but not be good? I went out and bought a new battery and everything runs fine and it starts right up. Kinda strange, but with this car i have learned to expect anything.
Once again, thanks for all the help!!

did they actually do a load test? or just test to see if the battery was holding a charge? that would be the first thing i would find out, then i would look further into it and see if your alternator is working, because that could be the problem

you can test the alt. yourself, or bring it to any place. just make sure, if you have an voltage gauge, that that reads the same as what your volt meter reads when you press one end to the + and one to the - it should read around 14.7 when the car is running and it's working correctly and there isn't any major draw. when the car is shut down should be around 12.6
They never did a load test, they just tested how much voltage the battery had. I knew that it was the battery, but the retards knew nothing about the problem. Last time i do that. But thanks for the help anyways. I will have to get my alternator checked next.
