Default 93 SOHC owner new to the board with a few ?'s

Hello all,

I'm glad I've found this board! I'm the proud owner of a 93 SOHC that I have owned since new. I have put over 166,000 mi on it with few problems and I still get people at gas stations that come over to look at the car.

I have been reading through the posts and have learned a few things, but I would like to ask a few questions.

First, The valve tick just started a few thousand miles ago. Goes away quickly after start-up, Any reccomendations on maybe an oil that might help?

Second, I have an A/C fan that winds down to hardly blowing. I'm thinking blower motor resistor? Ideas, Anybody???

I personally have 10W-40 Castrol Syntec, but simply because I couldn't find MobilOne or Pennzoil in the weight I preferred. Personally if I were you, put in a 20W-50 Synthetic oil that's either of the two brands I recommended, that's if you can find it.

For the tick, you could try LucasOil oil stabilizer. The fan could be bad windings on the fan itself, bad wiring, loose connection, or a relay about to give up the ghost. To test the relay, swap it out with a known good relay and see if the problem stops. If so, buy a new relay and you're done. If not, continue trouble shooting.

I have yet another question, I was wondering if anyone here has ever had to change the headlight pop-up motors on a 91-93. Mine are fine for now but the car is getting old and it's probably a matter of time before this issue will affect me. Perhaps there is a way to convert to a projecter style like the later models? Any Thoughts??

To change to the newer style projectors you'd have to change at a minimum; the front clip, the hood, and the lights obviously and possibly some mounting hardware. I have seen a couple of companies that offered a conversion, the problem being is most aren't DOT legal and sometimes do not have a proper light spread like stock lights would.
