Default sport/tour lights

I have a 92 Stealth with only 20000 miles on it and am getting electronic problems. First is the check engine light cycles on and off constantly next the stereo volume fluctuates from nothing to maximum all the time, I just don't bother no more. I removed the stearing wheel control and it got better but still does it. Now my sport/tour light flashes both lights all the time the car is started. I really could not feel the difference between the two even before this happened. Where is the switching taking place and what actually gets changed when you toggle from tour to sport? I know it's supposed to stiffen the suspension but how?

Thx for any help!

You can do a simple check to see why the CEL is flashing. Trouble code diagnostic procedure.

There is a very good chance that you are experiencing leaky capacitors on your ECS and ECU boards. Leaky capacitors.

The "clock spring" in your steering wheel is causing your radio issues. My RT does the same thing, I just live with it since I don't play the radio that often.

I don't recall exactly how the ECS struts function, but they do. On either of my cars, switching to sport mode made a very noticeable difference.

Thanks so much for the info and links I do remember hearing about the electrolytics leaking. This car sat in a shed in central Pennsylvania for a few years and endured some temperature fluctuations. Most electrolytic capacitors do not have a great tolerance for temperature changes. I will check the ECU out. The clock springs you talk about are they located at the base of the stearing column? I removed the steering wheel controller and is only 2 wires the other functions seam to operate ok only the volume. The module must send some analog voltage command to the stereo unit for each function if the springs were oxidized or corroded I would think all functions would be erratic. Maybe I could pull the wires from the connector in the back of the stereo and be done with the remote. I need to get a manual with wireing diagram so I can investigate.

Thanks,
Bill
