Default bad sound after replaceing timing belt

I replaced the timing belt and the water pump and once i started the car it ran smooth but there was an odd thumping noise.. no backfireing or belts rubbing. I do not know if its just the new pump getting warmed up or if one of the pistens fell into a camshaft in the process. PLEASE HELP...
