Dodge Stealth TT
Hi guys. Can someone helpe me or give me some info. I have a 91 dodge Stealth Twin Turbo and it misfires. When I start the car it runs under 500 RPMs. I got the code read and it said Cylinder Coil 2 & 5 was not working. So I changed the coil 2 & 5, but the car did the same thing. So than I changed the Spark Plugs n Wire after that the car started perfectly fine and I drove around for couple of miles perfectly fine. Just like regular car. However, all the sudden it went back to misfireing and was back tounder 500 RPMs again. Can someone tell me what could be causing that.
Thanks
Thanks
It sounds like the exact same problem I had with my 91 TT...the car would misfire and run horribly.
I found that my ECU capacitors were leaking. I replaced them and the car ran fine for a few weeks. Then I received an error code stating my ignition coils were bad. I replaced those and the problem persisted. I even replaced the plugs and wires like you.
Finally, I just figured that the ECU was most likely the problem (again), so I bought a new one and the car has been running perfect ever since!
I'd recommend pulling the ECU and checking the capacitors...the 91 ECUs are notorious for leaky caps.
If you need more info, please post and I can give details.
Best of luck,
Kevin

Like Zinger said, a faulty ECU is very common with the 1st gen Stealths. The ECS (suspension computer) also has the same crappy capacitors in it...if/when they start to leak, it will cause odd idling and running problems as well.
i don't know if mine misfires but about once in two days driving on same road at about 60 mph my check engine light comes on for about thrty seconds and then goes away. Could that be thefaulty ECU as well?
If you haven't reset your ECU (unhook the battery), the ECU will store codes

Hi, I opened up the ECU today and as per my knowledge the ECU looked in perfect shape. Unless I am mistaking. Is there anything else can be wrong. Or you think I should try putting a new ECU because their motherboard can be bad and all.
When I start the car it runs under 500 RPMs like it needs power. And like I posted before after changing the coil, splugs n wire car drove perfectly fine just for 15 mins. After that back to Ideling at 500 RPMs.
Where did you buy ur ECU from. Dearler or do you know any other place cheaper.
Thanks for your advice.

is it still misfiring or just idling at 500 rpm?
if it stoped misfiring but still idles at 500 rpm you can adjust the idlilng
i checked my codes(had to use digital voltmeter but it worked) and found that plastic seal on one of the sensors is cracked, that's probably what is causing the engine light.
