I have a 1997 Stratus es with 138000 miles and idle is horriable on it. Its up and down. Replaced the spark plugs when I first bought it last year. Also replaced the oxygen sensor. It it will stall when it is idling. Don't no where to start. HELP PLEASE

 

Is the "check engine" light on? Does it seem like it is misfiring? How does it drive on the road otherwise? The O2 sensor change will likely not have an effect on engine performance since it is an emissions related component.

 

The Check engine light is NOT on. When it is driving it is fine. It switches into different gear swiftly. This just happens when it idels. I thinking the IAC or fuel injector. I'm just not hopping its not the fuel pump. When its ideling it is about 900rpms, but goes up and down

 

How could tell if it is misfiring? I'm sorry I never herd a car before misfiring.

 

1st check the CEL when you are starting the car. it should light up, keep in mind that not all codes keep the light on. goto your local parts store and ask them yo can the codes to see if something comes up. whith the idle as bad as yours it's best to start with the easy stuff first. check vac lines, pull and check the plugs, air filter and so on. let us know what you found.
