Default Question about touch-up paint..(PX8 vs PX9)

Color code on my Stratus is PX8 and I was wondering if PX9 could be used instead?Theauto parts storesin my area only carry PX9 and I'd have to travel 30 miles to the dealership to get the PX8..(which I'd rather not do if possible). Haven't been able to find any kind of comparison between the 2 color codes..(Google), so thought I'd ask here.

Thanks, John[sm=smiley20.gif]

only way to really tell is to use it. i'd try it in a low vis spot first, that way it won't show up if it's off a lot. make sure you clean the spot off before you hit it with paint, glass cleaner will work as you want no grease or oil on the spot. scuff it up with 1K grit to give it something to grab on to and then clean it one more time with glass cleaner. take your time, it might take quite a few THIN coats to fill in the hole. wait for at least a week before trying to sand it smooth or buff it out. this will give the paint enough time to dry and get a good grip on the primer under it. when smoothing it out use things like a match box or emery board wraped in 1K+ grit paper as you just want the spot, and not the rest of the paint, worn down. buff it out with a machine polish, then wax it up to hide any "oopps" that may have happened. good luck, my mx-5 has a LONG way to go.
