Default '02 Stratus Trans issues - have codes

My wife's '02 Stratus sedan has gone into fail safe mode. The last time this happened, I got a quote from Chrysler for a $3000 trans overhaul. I ended up putting in myself a 30k mile trans and it has lasted only 19k miles. Now it has gone into fail -safe mode without any warning. I took it to a general shop and they ran the codes and quoted me $1900 for an trans overhaul. I am questioning whether I need another trans or not. The fluid appears fine and we had no indication anything was wrong this time around. Anything I can check before I go and tear this thing out again?
Here are the codes they gave me:

CELO/P0740/P0736/P0841

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

P0736 Reverse incorrect gear ratio
P0740 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Malfuction
P0840 Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch “A†Circuit

Yeah sounds to me like a tranny overhaul is pretty much the best bet...

You want to do a tear down and inspect. you could have burnt reverse clutches or a broken hard part. But you will need to replace the front pump and torque converter.
