hey all,
have an '02 SE with the 2.7. in the last month the key fob works only when it wants to, at times i have to press un/lock 5+ times to get it to operate. tried changing batt and swaping remotes with no help. the prob is also connected to the power switch on the doors. sometimes they don't work untill the switch is cycled several times. check the search eng and tsb's to no avail, although it seem others are having the same issue. going on vacation in a few weeks and planning doing quite a bit of work to the car.

questions:

1. does anyone know were the receiving antenna for the keyless sys is?
2. were are the main componets of the sys are located?
3. anyone know whats wrong?

other than chasing wires the only thing i can think of is checking the fuses for poor contacts, shorts,or rust. happy motoring.

 

sometimes to contacts inside start getting dirty so they wont work everytime you push, easiest thing to do is to take it apart, clean all the surfaces and all the bottom sides of the buttons and stuff, and maybe buy a new battery for it... should do the trick. i was having the same problem with my 01 R/T

 

You may want to get a new fob and have it program.

 

if you do get a new one, get it bite the bullet and get one from a dealer, i bought 3 off ebay and none of them would program. i even had a dealership try and program it, wouldnt pick up the signal, sux
