Default Starting problem

Hey,when I start my car I have to crank it for a few seconds, stop then do it again for the car to start. I just had my car in the shop because the timing belt slipped a tooth and it knocked my cam sensor off. and when i got it back they said that it had a problem starting and it wasnt throwing a code for anything. so what do you guys think it might be?

that does not sound right what so ever. In order for it to knock the cam sensor it would have had to slip right where the cam sensor was and brake the bolt or brake the sensor it self. Plus what year and engine size do u have? If u have a hard time starting now they forgot to plug the cam or crank sensor back in or u have fuel pump issue. Plus another thing if u jumped a tooth what did they do about that? Need allllllll the info from b4 u took it into the shop to what they did to what was replaced. ANd your orginal prob to b4 u took it into them.

My original problem was when I was goin to shut my car off I would take the key out and the car would still run,but it would run very rough and only for about 10 seconds then bog out and shut off. I took it to the shop and they said the timing belt slipped a tooth and knocked off the cam sensor. And when I went to pick it up they said that it had a problem starting, and that it wasnt throwing any codes out to the computer for them to check out. I put Injector cleaner in my car today with an idea that it might be gummed up injectors. I also think that it could be the throttle bottle is gummed up too.

Ok,when I had to it the shop they put a new belt and cam sensor in and no,i have to turn the car over atleast 3 times keeping it turning over for atleast 5 seconds each time, and yea,the car feels like its not getting gas, after the 3rd time trying to start it,ill push on the gas alittle then it will start up.

Fuel Pump? Maybe....

Off hand I would check the Spark Plugs and Catalytic Converter(Muffler Shop for that one) as well.... but that may not be it.. then again... checking them won't hurt.

I calleda few places today and they said that it might be the crankshaft sensor,so i bought one but i cant find it on the car. and then i looked at the throttle body and that was all nasty and gummed up,so it could also have somthing to do with it. and someone else also said the TPS could be the problem. the fuel pump is getting 40lbs of pressure soo i dont think it would be the fuel pump. Could one of you tell me where the crankshaft sensor is on my car,its got a 2.4l 4cyl in it and its a 2000 stratus.
