Engine seems to make alot of noise when idling lately I didn't notice it when I bought it about a year ago.Any one have any info to share on what might be the cause.? Car has 79000 miles on it.

 

Like many Dodge Stratus cars your car probably has a fast idle speed. Mine also does the same thing when it is in idling. How many rpms si your car running at in idle?

 

At idle you car should be at 700 rpms. Have you had your belts checked, especially the timing belt?

 

Have not ckecked the timing belt, don't know how.Don't think the idle is off. It runs great,just seems to make rattle ticking sounds maybe its normal I don't know just never noticed it much until lately. Thanks for reply...

 

Do you have the sedan or the coupe? The coupes are notorious for having noisy lash adjusters. A 1/3 can of "seafoam" to the crankcase and an oil change with 5w-30 oil should fix it if thats the case.

 

It's a coupe. I just recently changed the oil. Where do I get this seafoam?

 

Any (most) auto parts stores. Its 16oz (1 pint) and will do wonders. Read the directions on the can. Add it to the oil/ crankcase, and it wouldnt hurt to run it through the brake booster vacuum line and clean the injectors. Its simple and takes just a few minutes.
