I just got a stratus! Mod ideas anyone?
Well I just bought a Black 01 Stratus Coupe R/T. Loved the drive so I had to have it. 53k miles. Only thing it didnt have was the sunroof. But leather, disc changer, you name it its there.
So being the kid with too much money to burn that I am, I wanted to do some work to the thing. I have some ideas but I was just wanting some thoughts from other Stratus owners. This seems like a good place to get info.
My plans thusfar...
Viper Bodykit
carbon fiber hood/spoiler
yellow neon
coil-overs
new rims/tires (probably for now some winters being in michigan. this is probably my first purchase)
brembo slotted/drilled rotors
Cold air
and maybe a sticker or two to make it go faster!

My opinions, I would first of get a tune up, Water pump, timing belt are recommended at the 60K mark, ditributor cap and rotor, plugs and wires.
Than move onto the cosmetics, personally I would stay away from the body kits, the fitment is terrible, you'll spend more money trying to get it to fit than what you purchased it for. What do you mean by yellow neon? I don't think they make CF hoods anymore, the one I have on my car is CF, but they don't make it anymore, from what I've heard. Coilover would be nice, plan on spending around $1200 for a decent pair, anything under your better off going with shocks, struts, and springs, your also going to need a camber kit. I also hope your kidding about the stickers..
You can aslo get a bigger rear sway bar made by Suspension Techniques.

Lol yes totally joking about the stickers. I found some sites having CF hoods in viper style but not sure if its still actually made. Meant yellow colored neons by the way.
And yeah its probably due for some routine stuff first before having a jolly good time with it.
Wouldnt kits custom made for the stratus fit right or no?

Well any kit anyone has bought that I know of either has a big gap where the hood meets the bumper samething with the rear bumper, I would just stay with the stock body it looks so much sleeker that way. The Viper style hood is actually fiberglass most say that hoodpins are necessary because the latch doesn't hold it to well but I haven't had a problem with no hood pins in mine. The first mod I would suggest doing firstis suspension, our cars have a lot of gap between the wheels.
Yeah after some googling I think i came to a pretty similar conclusion.
Im probably going to get the winter tires though first. its already snowed here twice. Last thing I need is to dump my new purchase into a ditch/mailbox/old woman
Thinking black rims with a chrome lip, probably 17" maybe 18" if it fits good. I like the black on black.

And also, being as this car is very much alike with the eclipse of the same year, can I buy the suspension parts for the eclipse and expect them to fit right on the strat? Because there isnt a whole lot of goodies for this car sad to say.
Yeah th Eclipse and Startus are very similar, I've used the spolier, and the fuel door from an eclipse. Any suspension from a 3g eclipse will fit for the stratus, just make sure you get a rear camber kit for the rear to fix the negative camber.

For that camber do you recommend just evening it up with the front or doing a little positive for handling purposes. And I dont know much about why the strat has the negative is that a factory deal or what
