Default high temp and a hard hose

My gril friend has a 2001 dodge stratus 3.0l. the issue is that when your driving the temp sits half way or better. and it puts out very little heat. when you go under the hood the upper rad hose is hard and verry hot. when it cools the hose is soft and i know that dodge has used a new coolant called g.o-5 and they startde using it somewhere in 2000 and it has green coolant in it now. all i could think of is that they did not flush it well. so i want to know is the the synthetic g.o-5 coolant gunna react to the old school green coolant. and if so will it clog up the cooling system

i dont follow..which coolant is in the car now? it sounds like your heater core could be struggling...the same happened to the ramcahrger, but its much older.

much of the new coolant coming out now advertises that it will mix with anything...perhaps have the cooling system flushed, and see if that helps?

It may be possible that your thermostat is frozen shut and is not opening like it should. have that checked out
