I have seen a similar problem posted, but haven't seen an answer. My G.F. has an '02 Stratus with wierd HVAC Problems. The heat will come out of the proper location (floor, vent, defrost) for a short period of time, then switch (by it's self) to cold and defrost. After that, it's stuck on cold/defrost. I have read that re-setting the computer sometimes fixed a similar problem, and I will try that tonight, but if anyone knows the answer for sure, please let me know.
